Software Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking a passionate Backend Software Engineer for a remote, full-time position. You’ll work closely with the founder and principal engineer to build high-performance trading systems. This role offers significant opportunities for learning and growth, including training in exchange technology, trading systems and best practices in software design and operations. We offer flexibility in employment arrangements, with options for either employee or contractor agreements.

What you’ll be doing

• Developing and maintaining backend systems: Write scripts and modules in TypeScript (Node.js) to perform business and operational actions on trading systems and infrastructure.
• Database management: Manage and optimize SQL databases containing tens of billions of records to ensure high performance and scalability.
• Improving CI/CD processes: Enhance continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines and operational infrastructure across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.
• Exploring new technologies: Option to expand into other areas such as C++ development or frontend work, depending on your interests.

What we’re looking for

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field. Alternatively, strong experience in software development projects can substitute formal education.

• Experience & Skills:

  • 1+ years of hands-on software development experience (or outstanding graduate candidates with demonstrated project work).
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux and containerization is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
  • Good understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices or experience with CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
